We all know, intuitively, that gratitude is "good for us" because it's all about focusing on the good things in our lives. But the benefits of gratitude go well beyond a superficial "good" feeling. In this episode, we'll talk about the ways in which gratitude impacts us mentally, emotionally, and physically, and how to PRACTICE gratitude.
The experience of gratitude is a cognitive-emotional phenomenon that results in a boost in oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine, which allows us to feel happier and experience more emotional resilience. At the same time, cortisol levels drop and we experience less stress and improved emotional regulation. These effects give us a greater sense of well-being, while improving our interactions and relationships.
